    Description

    Civil War--Southern issue by a Confederate Railroad--the
New Orleans, Jackson, & Great Northern.
    Three dollar note. Issued at
    New Orleans
    Nov. 16th, 1861
. Hand signed and hand numbered. Reverse blank. Very Good but has a 1/2 tear from edge at top center.
2 5/8 by 6 1/2 inches.     There are two varieties of these notes.  This variety has Liberty anointing Eagle; the other has denomination vertical on right end.  Three dollar notes are always fun to show to friends who don't think such denominations were issued!  All coins were hoarded and the Confederacy, states, banks, insurance companies, merchants, and railroads issued notes in order to keep going.  What a story these notes could tell if they could talk.
Guaranteed to be a genuine, original Southern Civil War note.
