    Description

Civil War--Southern issue by a Confederate Railroad--
the New Orleans, Jackson, & Great Northern.
    One dollar  note
. Issued at Canton, Miss July 1st 1862. Hand signed and hand numbered. Reverse Blank. Uncirculated condition which is uncommon for this issue.
2 3/4 by 6 3/8 inches.  There are two varieties of these notes.  This variety has the denomination vertical on right end; the other has
    Liberty
anointing Eagle.  All coins were hoarded and the Confederacy, states, banks, insurance companies, merchants, and railroads issued notes in order to keep going.  What a story these notes could tell if they could talk.
Guaranteed to be a genuine, original Southern Civil War note.
Most of this hoard were issued at New Orleans.  After New Orleans fell to the Union, apparently a few were issued at Canton, Miss.  As I recall there were less than a dozen Canton of all denominations.
