    If anyone knows more about what this is than I have state here, please let me know, and I will include it in the description.
    The paperweight weighs almost two pounds (2' 11"), and is solid cast iron, tested with a magnet.  It has the symbol you see in the photos:  An eagle atop a banner, sitting on a six-pointed star, and surrounded at the edge with what appear to be garlands.
    The symbol is about 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" and the entire paperweight is about 2 3/4" by 3 1/8".  It is about 3/4" thick.  It is black, the overhead lighting makes it look lighter.
    It may clean up better, but this is the "as found" condition.  The wings of the eagle and the garlands have some detail.  The banner and star do not.
